Cottage Overview:"Beaver Point Lakehouse" a rustic, log-clad cottage of post & beam construction, was erected over 2006-2007, using old timbers in a classic design. Very private, it is located on 1 wooded acre, overlooking a small, quiet spring-fed lake (4 other cottages) about 35 minutes (43 km) north of Ottawa off hwy 307, near lac Saint-Pierre de Wakefield. As with the "Beaver Pond Cabin", if there is a "theme" here, it might be described as a relaxed re-connection with nature, supplemented by good wine, good books, and good music. The Lakehouse is most suitable for one or two couples, or a small family with children over 6 years. With pine floors, high ceilings, wrap-around windows, and nicely furnished with antiques and retro accessories, it makes for a comfortable get-away any time of the year; a fine place to relax beside the water, or curl up in front of the fire. There is a telephone, a small stereo-radio/cd player, and a small library. There is NO television or other hi-tech distractions. The open kitchen is equipped with a Jenair grill, toaster-oven, coffee-maker, microwave, and all necessary utensils. The farm table seats 6 comfortably. We request that guests do not smoke inside the cabin. Well insulated, it is heated by a new hi-efficiency air-tight wood-stove, with electric-baseboard heaters as back-up. Good quality firewood is supplied. 1 ½ stories, 1 ½ baths, it has 1 upstairs bedroom (1 double-bed and a 6’ window-bench), a mainfloor bedroom with a double bed, and a small "library/bunk room" with a single bunk-bed. Clean linens and towels for 4 are provided, and arrangements for laundry can be made. The summer offers excellent swimming and canoeing from a sunny deck on a small point of land stretching out into the lake. Abundant wildlife including beaver, raccoon, deer, turtle, porcupine, and bird-life including blue-heron and loon are found on and around the lake. Very sorry, but to protect the local flora and fauna, pets are not permitted. The lake is motor-free, and a canoe is provided. (For gas boats, lac Saint-Pierre and a public launch are 5 minutes away) For the winter season, several ski-hills are located nearby: Edelweiss is about 15 minutes, Mount Cascade and Vorlage about 25 minutes each. One can cross country ski around the lake, or snowshoe in the surrounding hills. A groomed ski-trail, "Nakertuk", is about 12 minutes from the cabin, and the popular trails of Gatineau Park are about 25 minutes. All necessities are provided for your comfort and convenience. You need bring only your clothing. Provisions are available within a 5-10 minute drive in either the village of Saint-Pierre de Wakefield or the village of Poltimore. 2007-2008 Rates: High season: (July, August, September) $950.00 per week. Off-season: (November through April) $300/weekend, $400/long weekend, $450/4 nights, $500/week, or $1400/month. Christmas and NewYears : $950/week.. These rates apply for up to 4 persons. There is a 10% surcharge on the applicable rate for each additional person, up to a maximum of six persons, including children. A deposit of 25% is requested. Points of Interest near the Cottage:
